Ahwatukee
Quiet, tucked-away planned communities on the south side of South Mountain, with trail access and easy freeway connections.
Ahwatukee is quiet and tucked away on the south side of South Mountain. Most of it is master-planned communities built around the same time, mostly in the 1990s, so homes have a consistent look and are well kept.
Because it sits against the mountain, there's more up and down than in most of Phoenix, and homes higher up have good views. South Mountain Park and Preserve, one of the largest city parks in the country, is right there for hiking.
Freeways are close, and the newer Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway makes the west side of Phoenix easier to reach.
